DIWALI CELEBRATION

On 29/10/2024, our school celebrated Diwali with a pooja and bhajan session, bringing a festive and peaceful atmosphere. Sweets were distributed to all, enhancing the joy of the occasion, and fostering a sense of community among students and staff.

GANESH CHATHURTHI

On 6/9/2024, the Ganesh Chaturthi celebration featured a vibrant dance drama by students and song performance in the form of bhajan were performed by students and teachers, showcasing their talents and devotion. The event included soulful bhajans and a traditional puja, creating an atmosphere of joy and spirituality. This celebration honoured Lord Ganesha, fostering a sense of community and cultural appreciation among all.

TEACHERS’ DAY

On 5/9/2024, the Guru Vandhanam event was held from 8:50 AM to 9:30 AM and again from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM. The evening program featured a captivating performance by renowned artist Mrs. R.K. Vilasini from Vijay Television, making it a memorable celebration of gratitude and artistry.

COE TRAINING

On 19/9/2024, a CBSE training session on gender sensitivity was conducted for teachers. The program aimed to enhance educators’ understanding of gender issues in the classroom, promote inclusivity, and foster a supportive learning environment. Through interactive discussions and activities, teachers gained valuable insights to address gender sensitivity effectively in their teaching practices.

CLASS VIII-EDUCATIONAL TRIP TO HAMPI-BANGALORE

132 students of Class VIII, accompanied by 10 teachers, visited Hampi from 22nd to 26th September 2024. They explored key sites including Anjaneya Hill Temple, Vijayanagar ruins, Badavi Linga, Lotus Mahal, Elephant Stable, Queen’s Bath, Pushkarani, Vithala Temple’s music pillars, Virupaksha Temple, and Tungabhadra Dam, gaining invaluable insights into India’s cultural heritage.

INTERNATIONAL LITERACY DAY-DEPT.OF.MATHEMATICS

The students displayed creativity and knowledge, showcasing charts that highlighted the importance of literacy in mathematics and everyday life.

SPELL BEE

The Spell Bee exam was conducted on September 2nd, with a total of 35 students enrolled. Out of these participants, three students emerged as school toppers, showcasing exceptional spelling skills:

CBSE SOUTH ZONAL SKATING COMPETITION

Eva Pearline of Class VII A7 made the school proud by winning a gold medal in the rink race at the CBSE South Zonal Skating Competition held at Adhyayana Public School, Coimbatore. With this victory, she has qualified for the national-level competition. Her outstanding performance showcases her skill and dedication to the sport.

GYMNASTICS COMPETITION

Dhanyasri from Class VI A6 secured the III position in floor exercise gymnastics. Her hard work and dedication in practice led to this commendable achievement, highlighting her talent and commitment to gymnastics.

BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT

Deekshita from Class VI A6 earned the II prize in the basketball tournament conducted by the Athur Srinivasa Iyer Memorial Tournament. Her teamwork and skill on the court contributed to this impressive recognition, showcasing her potential in sports.

NAVARATRI PUJA

Students participated in a vibrant Navaratri Puja, showcasing their devotion through traditional bhajans. The event highlighted the significance of the festival, with students performing prayers and singing melodious songs dedicated to Goddess Durga. This celebration fostered a spirit of unity and devotion among participants, enriching the cultural experience for all.

ALL FAITH PRAYER

The All Faith Prayer, organized by the Scouts and Guides on 5/10/2024, brought together students from various backgrounds to promote unity and understanding. Participants shared prayers and reflections, celebrating diversity and respect for different faiths. The event fostered a sense of community and encouraged compassion, highlighting the values of peace and harmony.

FYULE LAB VIDEO SESSION

On 15th October 2024, an online meeting focused on classroom flow for Voice Over and Writing Script. Key topics included classroom management, recording steps, and script elements like hooks and conclusions. Teachers were encouraged to use the Fyule Editor Lab and download the InShot app for recording. The session boosted confidence.

MVM GANIT EXTRAVAGANZA

Ganit Extravaganza 2024, a spectacular event that showcased the role of mathematics in day-to-day life. On 19/10/2024, Students from Class VI to Class VIII participated in the exhibition, presenting 37 innovative exhibits. Around 90 students enthusiastically contributing, the event highlighted the creativity and practical application of mathematical concepts.

The exhibition included dances and skits performed by students, creatively integrating mathematical themes and principles. It was a perfect platform for students to express their love for numbers and equations in an engaging and fun-filled manner.

The event was graced by Dr. Y. Balachandran, Associate Professor and Head of the Mathematics Department, Presidency College, and Dr. S. Saravanan, Associate Professor and Head of the Mathematics Department, R.M.D Engineering College, as the chief guests.

ROAD SAFETY PROGRAMME

On 25th October 2024, the final poster-making competition was held as part of the Road Safety Programme, aimed at empowering children to become ambassadors of safe mobility. Selected students from the first session participated in groups, presenting colorful posters to raise awareness about road safety for pedestrians. Four groups were chosen in this round, showcasing creativity and commitment to promoting safety on their way to school and beyond. Worksheets were also distributed to further engage participants in the initiative.

VIGILANCE AWARENESS WEEK

Vigilance Awareness Week was observed in our school from 28th October to 3rd November to educate students on the harmful effects of corruption and to promote ethical values. This year’s theme, “Culture of Integrity for Nation’s Prosperity,” emphasized the role of vigilance in advancing both organizational and national progress. As part of the observance, the students of Class 8A8 took an oath, pledging their commitment to honesty and integrity. The week served as a valuable opportunity to instill these essential values in our future citizens.

WORLD SMILE DAY-DEPT.OF.ENGLISH

On World Smile Day, the Department of English organized an engaging activity where students created colorful charts and bookmarks promoting positivity and kindness. The initiative encouraged creativity and teamwork, fostering a joyful atmosphere. Students displayed their artistic skills while spreading smiles, highlighting the importance of happiness and goodwill in our lives.

POSTAL DAY- DEPT.OF.MATHEMATICS

On International Postal Day, the Mathematics Department organized a chart-making activity where students creatively highlighted postal services’ history, milestones, and logistics. The charts combined art and math, reflecting students’ understanding of postal operations and communication. This activity was both educational and enjoyable, deepening appreciation for postal services’ role.

MENTAL HEALTH DAY

On 10th October, World Mental Health Day was observed at Maharishi Vidya Mandir Sr. Sec. School, Chetpet, to raise awareness about mental health among students and staff.

Students of Std VI creatively presented charts depicting various emotions, explaining their significance. Std VII students participated in a short story writing competition focused on emotions, incorporating critical analysis. Meanwhile, Std VIII students engaged in a spirited debate on the impact of social media, addressing topics like its role in fueling social comparison and its effect on academic performance.The enthusiastic participation fostered an understanding of the importance of discussing feelings and emotions for mental well-being.

WORLD GIRL CHILD DAY-DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH

Students creatively illustrated various themes, promoting awareness about girls’ rights and education. This highlighted the importance of gender equality and empowering girls and this engaging initiative encouraged meaningful discussions and fostered a supportive environment for gender equality.

WORLD STUDENTS’ DAY-DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH

Students participated enthusiastically, creating informative and creative charts highlighting the importance of education and student rights. The event fostered teamwork and creativity, showcasing students’ talents while promoting awareness about the significance of learning and academic achievements.

NATIONAL SCIENCE OLYMPIAD

On 18th October, 63 out of 65 enrolled students participated in the National Science Olympiad (NSO) organized by the Science Olympiad Foundation. Class VI had 13 of 14 students, Class VII had 18 of 19, and Class VIII saw full attendance with 32 students. This high participation reflects our students’ enthusiasm for science and commitment to excellence.

SOF-IMO OLYMPIAD EXAM

On 22nd October 2024, 82 students from middle school participated in the SOF-IMO Olympiad exam. This prestigious competition aimed to enhance their mathematical skills and problem-solving abilities. The students’ enthusiastic participation reflects their commitment to academic excellence and their eagerness to excel in mathematics.

GREEN OLYMPIAD EXAM

On 22nd October 2024, ten students from middle school participated in the Green Olympiad exam. This initiative aimed to promote environmental awareness and encourage sustainable practices among students. Their involvement reflects a commitment to understanding and addressing environmental challenges, fostering a sense of responsibility towards our planet.

4TH INTERNATIONAL YOUTH FORUM ON SDGS AND HUMAN RIGHTS

Harsha and Saanvi of Class VIII represented our school as student delegates at the 4th International Youth Forum on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Human Rights, held from 22nd to 23rd October 2024 at the United Nations Conference Centre in Bangkok, Thailand. They actively engaged in discussions and activities aimed at raising awareness of SDGs and human rights issues. For their contributions, both received Certificates of Participation from the Sustainable Development Council. This experience offered them valuable insights and the opportunity to connect with peers from around the world.

CBSE NATIONALS SKATING TOURNAMENT

On 24th October 2024, Eva Pearline of Class VII A7 won a silver medal, securing the 2nd position at the CBSE Nationals held at Shivganga Skating Rink in Belavi.

On 24th October 2024, S. Kashikaa of Class VIII A4 achieved remarkable success at the CBSE Nationals Skating Tournament held at Good Shepherd Central School, Belavi, winning both a gold and a silver medal. She also qualified for the School Games Federation of India (SGFI) in the first position.

INTER SCHOOL MATH EXPO

On 26th October 2024, B. Divya and B. Mohitha of Class VIII A5 secured first place in the poster-making competition at the 20th Inter School Math Expo 2024-2025,hosted by Bala Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School.

THE SOLAR ENERGY SOCIETY OF INDIA

The Solar Energy Society of India (SESI) is a leading organization dedicated to promoting renewable energy across the nation. To create awareness about solar energy among students, SESI conducted a series of events, including painting, essay, and poem writing competitions in celebration of Solar Energy Day on 21st June 2024. Among the participants, several students excelled in their respective categories. Nehal.M.Sanghvi from Class VI A3 won second prize for her painting, Avantika Vital from Class VII A9 secured second prize in poetry, and Megha GD from Class VIII A6 achieved second prize for her essay. Their creativity and talent were commendable, highlighting the importance of solar energy.

STATE LEVEL KARATE AND KOBUDO CHAMPIONSHIP 2024

On 26th October 2024, the State Level Karate and Kobudo Championship was held at Shorei-Kan Karate-Do Asia Headquarters in T. Nagar. Our students from Class VI achieved remarkable success in the event. N.J. Edward and S. Preethi, both from Class VI A6, secured 1st place. J.M. Vishal of Class VI A5 and K.S. Abhinav Sai of Class VI A6 each earned 3rd place. Additionally, Sivashankar of Class VI A5 was awarded a medal for his participation. Their accomplishments reflect the hard work and dedication of our students in martial arts.

SILAMBAM CHAMPIONSHIP

S. Jaswant secured a silver medal in the Under-10 Boys category at the 2nd Open State Level Silambam Championship 2024, held at ICF Indoor Stadium, Chennai Organized by Benniyal Sports Academy.

HINDI DIWAS CELEBRATION (2024)

Maharishi Vidya Mandir hosted the Hindi Diwas to cherish and promote the significance of Hindi language. The event began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and a Saraswathi Vandana performance by the students. Highlights included a captivating Shiv-Parvati Thandav dance and a thought-provoking drama by class VIII students. Dr.S.Vijaya, Asst.General Manager (OI) Retd., SBI & Senior Pracharak, DBHS the Chief guest and Shri.G. Selvarajan, General Secretary, DBHS the guest of honour, graced the occasion emphasizing the importance of Hindi language. The celebration also featured speeches, songs, and dances.Hindi Declamation Competition was organised for the students and the winners received awards. The event concluded with National Anthem, instilling pride in the audience for their language and culture.

RANDOM PICKS-UNCOVER AND LIST

During their free period, students are invited to pick a lot from a bag hanging in each classroom. The lot will contain a prompt, and students will engage themselves in listing out answers based on the prompt they have picked. This enhances their awareness and vocabulary.

TIGER’S DAY

On July 29, 2024, Tigers Day was celebrated by the English Department. This day is dedicated to raising awareness about the conservation of tigers and their habitats, as well as highlighting the importance of protecting these endangered species from poaching and habitat loss. Students from Classes VI, VII, and VIII crafted vibrant posters and compelling slogans to emphasize the importance of protecting these majestic animals. Additionally, they prepared and presented a PowerPoint presentation outlining key facts about tigers, their habitats, and the threats they face. The event successfully heightened awareness and showcased the students’ enthusiasm for environmental stewardship.

SKILLING AND DIGITAL INITIATIVES DAY

On July 25, 2024, Skilling Day was celebrated to enhance students’ talents and interests, showcase the benefits of digital education, and promote new technology. Students of Class VIII actively participated in the activities:

Gomathi Lakshmi and Ms. Sarika All the important days of the year are celebrated at our middle school and the same was projected for for Community Involvement Day on July 25, 2024. We observed several significant global observances that highlight crucial aspects of our lives and the world around us.
  • On April 10, 2024, we celebrated World Siblings Day, cherishing the bond between siblings. Our middle school science department organized a “Sibling Appreciation” event where students shared heartfelt stories, charts, and poems about their siblings.
  • On April 22, 2024, we marked World Health Day with the theme “Health for All.” The Mathematics department discussed the importance of health, nutrition, and yoga.
  • World Book Day was conducted by the English department for Class VIII students, who discussed the evolution of books from the Stone Age to the present day.
  • On June 12, 2024, we raised awareness about the rights of children and the importance of education on the Day Against Child Labour. Our Social Science department arranged posters and charts outside every class to highlight the impact of child labour.
  • On June 21, 2024, the English department celebrated International Yoga Day by having students from all classes perform asanas, take pictures, and explain the benefits.
  • Students celebrated World Ocean Day, focusing on marine conservation. We learned about the interconnectedness of our oceans and the need to protect them. Class VI students learnt the impact of ocean water on sea animal populations, Class VII students enjoyed sharing puzzles about the topic, and Class VIII students made and presented posters.
  • On July 7, 2024, our Social Science department celebrated Van Mahotsav Day, dedicated to forest conservation. We conducted a sapling plantation drive for all classes, emphasizing the significance of trees and forests in maintaining ecological balance. Through these celebrations, students gained valuable insights into the importance of sibling bonds, health, environmental conservation, child rights, ocean conservation, and forest preservation. We realized the power of community involvement in addressing global issues.

CULTURAL DAY

On July 25, 2024, Shiksha Saptah-Cultural Day was celebrated, highlighting India’s rich heritage, culture, and diversity. The event commenced with a warm welcome address by a student, followed by a beautiful poem on culture that set the tone for the day. One of the highlights of the celebration was the “Different States Costume Dress Up” segment. Students dressed in the traditional attires of various states, showcasing the beauty of our diverse nation. They also explained the rich cultural aspects of their states in their regional languages, adding authenticity to their presentations. Our Head Mistress addressed the students, emphasizing the importance of respecting and preserving our culture. The event concluded with a thought-provoking speech on “Unity in Diversity,” reinforcing the significance of celebrating our differences while remaining united. This celebration brought the teacher and student community together, fostering a deeper understanding of our cultural richness and the ways to honor and celebrate it. WORLD NATURE CONSERVATION DAY

On account of World Nature Conservation Day, students of Class VIII displayed placards and gave a speech on the conservation of nature, creating awareness during the assembly held on July 29, 2024. Additionally, on July 25, 2024, students were advised to bring lunch without any waste-generating materials. This initiative was remarkable as there was no trash. The in-charge teachers were Ms. Jayalakshmi and Ms. Nithya.

VANA MAHOTSAV

On July 12, 2024, Class VIII students celebrated Vana Mahotsav, an annual tree-planting festival. Middle school students brought saplings from their homes, which were organized based on their types and planting requirements. Teachers guided the students on how to plant and take responsibility for growing them. Class VII participated in a poster-making activity on the theme “Save Trees, Save Earth,” while Class VIII participated in an awareness rally on the theme “Awareness about Environmental Conservation” to spread the message of Vana Mahotsav to the community.

KAMARAJ BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION

On July 15, 2024, Kamaraj’s Birthday was celebrated. A total of 770 participants attended the online quiz conducted from July 13 to July 16 across our Group of schools. Out of these, 243 students were from our school. Of the participants, 573 students who scored 60 or above out of 100 points were awarded e-certificates.

STRUCTURED ASSESSMENT FOR ANALYZING LEARNING

SAFAL Online Assessment was held between 22/7/2024 to 29/7/2024 for Class VIII and between 30/7/2024- 6/8/2024 for Class VI covering Science, Mathematics and English subjects. 400 students from Class VI attempted the exam.

HOME AWAY HOME -CLASS VII

Home Away Home programme for Class VII was conducted from 26/7/2024 to 27/7/2024 at Maharishi International Residential School, Sriperumbudur campsite. 274 students, 17 teachers and 6 parents attended the programme.

WORKSHOP BY TERI

Ms. K. Jayalakshmi attended a workshop conducted by TERI titled “Ocean Matters” on July 25, 2024. As part of the workshop, sample collection and experimental analysis were completed.

WORKSHOP BY CAMBRIDGE UNLOCK SOLUTIONS

Ms. R. Saranya attended a workshop conducted by Cambridge Unlock Solutions, focused on discussions about Science, on July 20, 2024, at Residency Towers, Chennai. The workshop provided insights on creating an enjoyable classroom environment, making students more responsible, and addressing classroom challenges. Additionally, it offered a clear understanding of competency-based learning and active learning, helping teachers contribute ideas for designing textbooks.

FYULE LAB

On July 10, 2024, orientation session on FYULE Lab was attended by Ms. Keerthi, Mr. Srikanth, Mr. Jayakumar, and Mr. Kalaiselvan.

SPORTS SELECTION

On 8/7/2024-Sports selection for Class VI was conducted in SDAT Stadium and for Classes VII and VIII on 10/7/2024. House matches were conducted on 12.7.2024(Friday) for sub juniors(Class VI ) and on 15.7.2024(Monday) for juniors(Classes VII & VIII).

WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY

As part of the National Green Corps (NGC) activity for World Environment Day, Class VII students took a pledge to save the environment and conserve esources during the school assembly on June 24, 2024. In alignment with the syllabus and important observances, the Department of Science celebrated World Environment Day on June 18, 2024, with activities aimed at raising awareness and promoting sustainability. Class VI students created posters, Class VII students organized a zero-waste lunch day program, and Class VIII students showcased ecobricks. These activities helped students gain knowledge about environmental issues and encouraged them to contribute positively to protecting our planet.

YOGA DAY

On 21/6/2024, Yoga Day was celebrated by the Department of English in the classrooms by engaging students in a special activity to watch a video for World Yoga Day, which introduced them to the benefits and practices of yoga. Students also prepared an assignment on this topic, by posing an asana and writes its benefits, and the significance of incorporating yoga into daily life. This celebration aimed to promote physical and mental well-being among students while fostering an appreciation for the ancient practice of yoga.

SOLAR ENERGY DAY

On 20/6/2024, Solar Energy Day was celebrated with a variety of competitions to educate students on the importance of solar energy and encourage them to think creatively about sustainable energy solutions. This engages students and raises awareness about the importance of renewable energy. The activities included:Poster Making Competition: Students created informative and creative posters showcasing the benefits and uses of solar energy. Poem Writing Competition: Students wrote poems highlighting the significance of solar energy and its impact on the environment.

CBSE COE TEACHERS TRAINING

On June 15, 2024, teachers from the middle school, attended a CBSE COE training at our school campus, Ved Bhavan, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The session focused on equipping teachers with effective stress management techniques, including mindfulness exercises and strategies for work-life balance.

WORKSHOP ON - MICROPLASTICS MONITORING PROTOCOL TRIAL

Ms. K. Jaya Lakshmi, a middle school science teacher, attended a workshop on the “Microplastics Monitoring Protocol Trial” (MMPT) at Chennai Public School, Thirumazhisai campus, on June 12, 2024.

CBSE BUDDING AUTHORS PROGRAMME

The CBSE Budding Authors Programme hosted a series of webinars in June to assist students in their journey of story writing. The webinars aim to teach students the techniques of writing and guiding them on how to write and submit their stories on the online platform. COMMON LUNCH PROGRAMME

Common lunch programme has been started for students in Classes VI-VIII. This programme aims to foster a sense of community and brotherhood among students while ensuring they have a nutritious meal during the school day. By sharing a common lunchtime, students can interact, share their experiences, and build stronger relationships with their peers. This initiative also provides an opportunity for teachers to engage with students in a more informal setting, promoting a holistic educational environment. During common lunch, teachers share a story with a moral value to help students enjoy their meal.

XQ-FYULE VIDEO LAB

On 6/6/2024, 40 Teachers of Middle school attended a workshop on XQ-FYULE VIDEO LAB between 10AM TO 1PM in Ved Bhavan. This workshop was a detailed view on the usage of the apps of FYULE video lab and the textbook.

CBSE SCIENCE CHALLENGE

50 Class VIII students registered for the CBSE Science Challenge on April 18th. The challenge consists of two rounds which was conducted in the month of April and May. S. Mrithikha of VIII A9 and V. L. Nidarshana of VIII A6 were selected for the second round of the CBSE Science Challenge, held on May 17, 2024. The test, conducted online, focused on assessing higher-order thinking skills.
